Discovering Days is a little hidden gem in the world of children’s playground equipment.

From our very own magic workshop in the foothills of the rolling East Lancashire Moors, we make extra special play furniture for children, with our own hands to our own designs.

Unlike much of the other play equipment you can buy online, ours are made with a little bit of love and a lot of care. There’s no nasty splinters that will impale little fingers or sticking-out nails that could cut little one’s skin; instead, every piece we make is tested and double checked. We like to make sure it’s completely safe for your little charges to use day in, day out.

Our quality assured playtime furniture is also specifically made to last. We never use cheap materials and we make sure all our quality timber is specially treated to make it both safe and durable. Whether your little ones use our playground equipment indoors or out, it will be sure to last you for decades and not just months.

But why do we take this approach? Why do we at Discovering Days care so much about the quality of our products, and not just churn out ‘pile- ‘em-high-sell-‘em-cheap’ products like the rest of the market? Well, it’s all to do with our background.

How Did We Get To Discovering Days? 

People often ask us how we came to be making playground equipment for children; how do two such handsome and burly men (if we do say so ourselves) from Burnley end up making sandpits, play dens and tunnels for children?

It’s a good question, and we’ll tell you the answer.

It all started almost 15 years ago, when our precursor company, Swings and Roundabouts, was set up to provide a professional installation company for children’s playgrounds and the like. You know they type of thing – going to local parks owned by the council and fitting a play area, or going to a primary school to help fit a playground.

With our combined backgrounds in civil engineering and general groundworks, looking after public parks and being involved with another playground company, it seemed like the obvious path for the Discovering Days team.

However, what surprised us was the lack of empathy or understanding showed by some of the other contractors we were working with towards the end users of their projects. That, and the shoddy workmanship of some of the playground equipment we were being asked to fit. We’re not saying it was all bad and we don’t want to tar everyone with the same brush. But we just knew there had to be a better way of doing things.

The Discovering Days Way

We knew that, if we were working in schools, nurseries or public playgrounds, our end customers would be children. Not only did the products and equipment we were fitting need to be safe, but the work needed to be carried out in as considerate and safe a way as possible.

Thanks to our caring approach, we gradually got a name for ourselves within the local area, and the quality of our workmanship was in demand. Yet, whilst we were working hard to make sure our labour didn’t cause any harm to any child, the equipment we were fitting was still, essentially, rubbish! So once again, we had the thought – we can do better than this. And we did.

We already had our own workshop and the expertise to work with wood and tools. Better yet, we had the knowledge to know what type of play equipment children love. We were off!

The Growth Of Discovering Days 

In 2017, Discovering Days took the plunge. We started to design and build our own range of well-built playground equipment for children. Our aim was to create wooden playground equipment that is all the things most other play equipment isn’t.

We guarantee that anything built by our fair hands will be safe for little explorers and will last schools and nurseries for years to come. Our equipment will be colourful, bright and stimulating and most importantly, will encourage little ones to play and learn in a safe environment.
